Eurojackpot Deadline — When Is the Cut-Off Time?
When does the Eurojackpot ticket submission close? All deadlines by German federal state, online vs. retail differences and what happens if you miss the cut-off.
When Is the Eurojackpot Submission Deadline?
The Eurojackpot is drawn twice per week — every Tuesday and Friday at 8:00 PM CET (9:00 PM Finnish time) in Helsinki. But when exactly must you have submitted your ticket?
The short answer: the submission deadline at most lottery retailers and online providers is 6:00 PM on the day of the draw. However, there are sometimes significant differences depending on the federal state and play channel (retail or online).
Submission Deadlines by Federal State
Each state lottery company within the German Lotto and Toto Block (DLTB) sets its own submission deadlines. The following table shows the Eurojackpot deadlines on draw days — for both retail outlets and online play through the respective state lottery.
| Federal State | Retail | Online (State Lottery) |
|---|---|---|
| Baden-Württemberg | 6:00 PM | 6:00 PM |
| Bavaria | 6:00 PM | 6:00 PM |
| Berlin | 6:00 PM | 6:00 PM |
| Brandenburg | 5:45 PM | 6:00 PM |
| Bremen | 6:00 PM | 6:00 PM |
| Hamburg | 6:00 PM | 6:00 PM |
| Hesse | 6:00 PM | 6:00 PM |
| Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania | 5:45 PM | 6:00 PM |
| Lower Saxony | 6:00 PM | 6:00 PM |
| North Rhine-Westphalia | 6:00 PM | 6:00 PM |
| Rhineland-Palatinate | 6:00 PM | 6:00 PM |
| Saarland | 6:00 PM | 6:00 PM |
| Saxony | 5:45 PM | 6:00 PM |
| Saxony-Anhalt | 5:45 PM | 6:00 PM |
| Schleswig-Holstein | 6:00 PM | 6:00 PM |
| Thuringia | 5:45 PM | 6:00 PM |
Important: In some eastern federal states (Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia), retail outlets close submissions at 5:45 PM — 15 minutes earlier than the online deadline. Plan accordingly.
Online submissions through state lotteries (e.g., lotto.de) are uniformly available until 6:00 PM nationwide.
Online vs. Retail — The Differences
The choice between online play and retail affects more than just the deadline. Here are the key differences at a glance:
Advantages of Online Play
- Uniform deadline: 6:00 PM nationwide, no regional variations
- No risk of loss: Your ticket is stored digitally — no paper slip to lose
- Automatic win notification: You are informed via email or push notification
- Standing order available: Set up once, participate automatically in every draw
- Available 24/7: You can fill in your ticket at any time — it is submitted at the next deadline
Advantages of Retail Play
- Instant receipt: Printed proof in hand immediately
- No registration required: Anonymous play without a user account
- Personal advice: Staff can help with questions
- Cash payment: No bank account or online payment method required
Private Brokers
In addition to state lotteries, licensed private brokers such as lottobay, Lottohelden or Lottoland exist. These often have different submission deadlines — sometimes up to 7:00 PM or beyond. Check the respective terms on the provider's website.
Draw Days and Draw Times
When Is the Eurojackpot Drawn?
| Day | Draw | Results approx. |
|---|---|---|
| Tuesday | 8:00 PM CET | 8:15 PM |
| Friday | 8:00 PM CET | 8:15 PM |
The draw takes place in Helsinki, Finland and is conducted by the Finnish lottery company Veikkaus. Results are typically available within minutes of the draw and are published on the official websites.
On our draw page, you can find the latest results immediately after each draw.
Since When Are There Two Draws Per Week?
Until March 2022, Eurojackpot was only drawn on Fridays. Since 29 March 2022, an additional Tuesday draw has been held. This change was introduced simultaneously with the expansion of the Euro number pool from 10 to 12 and the increase of the maximum jackpot from 90 to 120 million euros.
Mind the Time Zone
The draw takes place at 8:00 PM CET (Central European Time) or 8:00 PM CEST (summer time). In Helsinki, it is 9:00 PM (Finnish time) at that point. For players in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, there is no time zone difference — 8:00 PM is 8:00 PM.
What Happens If You Miss the Deadline?
If you miss the submission deadline, your ticket is not lost but is automatically registered for the next draw. This applies both online and at retail:
- Online: Your ticket is queued for the next draw date. You can see in your account which draw your ticket applies to.
- Retail: Some outlets close lottery sales for the current day at the deadline. If you arrive after closing time, you will need to return on the next opening day.
Tip: Use the standing order (online) to never miss the deadline again. Once set up, your numbers automatically participate in every draw.
Deadlines on Public Holidays
On public holidays, retail outlets may have shortened opening hours or be closed entirely. Online submissions are not affected — the regular deadlines (6:00 PM on draw day) apply regardless of holidays.
Special caution is advised on:
- Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve (many outlets close early)
- Easter Monday and Whit Monday (closed retail outlets)
- Regional holidays (e.g., Corpus Christi, All Saints' Day — only in certain states)
The current draw schedule can be found on our numbers page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I buy a Eurojackpot ticket on Sunday?
Online, yes — you can fill in and pay for your ticket on any day of the week. It will then be registered for the next draw (Tuesday or Friday). At retail, it depends on opening hours; many outlets in petrol stations and supermarkets are also open on Sundays.
What happens to my winnings when I play online?
Prizes up to 5,000 euros are automatically credited to your play account. For higher amounts, the state lottery will contact you and the prize is transferred to your bank account. For jackpot wins, dedicated personal prize support is provided.
Is the submission deadline different for Eurojackpot and LOTTO 6aus49?
Yes. For LOTTO 6aus49, the deadline is on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 6:00 PM, with retail times varying by region. The basic structure is similar, but the draw days differ. Eurojackpot is drawn on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Responsible Gaming
Playing the lottery should be fun — not stressful. Do not rush to the nearest retailer because of the deadline. If you play regularly, use the standing order and set a fixed budget.
